What format is the audio?

You get the audio file TikTok stores for the sound, usually an MP3 at 128 kbps. A few sounds are stored as M4A instead, and the download button shows which one you’ll get.

Why is there no Sound button for some posts?

Some posts, mostly slideshows and reposted clips, don’t come with a separate soundtrack file. In that case you can download the video and extract the audio with any video editor.

Do I get the original sound or the song?

You get whatever TikTok uses as the post’s sound. For an original sound that’s the creator’s own audio. For a song, it’s the clip of the song used in the video, not the full track.

Can I use the sound as a ringtone?

Yes. On Android, move the MP3 into the Ringtones folder or pick it in Settings → Sound. On iPhone you need GarageBand to turn audio into a ringtone.

Can I reuse the audio in my own videos?

Music and voices belong to their creators and rights holders. Saving a sound for personal listening is fine, but ask for permission before publishing it in your own content.
